In a powerful commemoration of International Men’s Day, the University’s CvSU MOVE KATROPA, in collaboration with the Gender and Development Resource Center (GADRC), conducted an enlightening virtual event on December 12, 2023, via Zoom video conferencing and Facebook Live.
The activity addressed critical issues surrounding men’s mental health and their role in preventing teenage pregnancy, and highlighted the achievements of CvSU MOVE KATROPA for the fiscal year 2022-2023.
On behalf of Cavite State University (CvSU) President Dr. Hernando D. Robles, CEO VI, Prof. King David J. Agreda, CvSU MOVE KATROPA President, delivered an inspiring opening message that set the tone for the day’s discussion. Prof. Agreda highlighted the importance of recognizing and addressing men’s issues while fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for their well-being.
Mr. Leonard V. Paunil, CvSU MOVE KATROPA Vice President, delved into the crucial topic of men’s mental health, debunking myths surrounding mental illness and violence while addressing the harsh realities that men face. The discussion emphasized the importance of destigmatizing mental health issues and promoting open conversations.
Mr. Andy L. Pegris, Commission on Population Development Region IV-4A, shared insights into men’s roles in preventing teenage pregnancy and its correlation with teenage violence. The session explored proactive measures that men can take to contribute to the prevention of teenage pregnancies, fostering responsible relationship and reducing instances of violence among youth.
Afterwards, Prof. Agreda presented the organization’s accomplishments for the fiscal year 2022-2023. The achievements highlighted the group’s dedication to addressing men’s issues, promoting gender equality, and contributing to the well-being of the academic community.
Dr. Melbourne R. Talactac, Vice President for Research and Extension, delivered the closing message that encapsulated the significance of the discussions and initiatives presented throughout the event. Dr. Talactac expressed gratitude for the collective efforts to bring awareness of men’s issues and foster a culture of support and understanding.
